Our lead practitioner, Sam, has been working with Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plans since they took over from Statements of Special Needs in 2014. 

Firstly, as a Needs Assessor for a local authority, working to the 2014 Code of Practice when it came into effect. She then began working with the Tribunals team in the same authority and leading on Preparation for Adulthood.

Since setting up Valuing Autism, she has worked extensively with a range of settings to help them understand how the Children and Families Act 2014 changed the expectations and funding  to support learners with SEND.

 

Sam continues to work with parents, supporting them to understand their appeal rights and which aspects of the Children and Families Act 2014 are most pertinent to their unique situation.
